This week, our own Dr. Randy Fisher and family sat down with 100 kindergarten students at Faywood Public School in Toronto to talk about caring for their teeth. There were smiles all over the room, but none bigger than Randy’s (he loves this stuff). Check out some of the pics below.

In a letter sent home to parents, Dr. Fisher highlighted these important messages:

  • First Dental Visit: It is recommended that your child’s first dental visit occur 6 months after their first tooth erupts.
  • Fluoridated tooth paste: You can introduce fluoridated tooth paste around age 2, but only if your child can control their swallowing reflex. Swallowing fluoridated toothpaste can be problematic for the development of adult teeth.
  • Flossing: Flossing should begin as soon as your child has two teeth that touch each other, regardless of their age. But be sure to do it gently – their gums are very sensitive.
  • Brushing: The best thing you can do for you child’s dental health is to make brushing fun. Good behaviours established at an early age will last a lifetime.
