We have patients all over north Toronto from Etobicoke to Scarborough. So when we got wind of the plans to build an Eglinton Crosstown or LRT, our eyes lit up.
And now that it’s underway, all that construction and disruption will have been well worth it — and not just because there’s a stop three minutes from us.
This Eglinton Crosstown is going to change so many intersections and neighbourhoods. One in particular that comes to mind: Oakwood & Eglinton.
Little Paradise
Eglinton from Oakwood to the Allen has such a cool West Indian vibe. The strip comes alive at night with street-front barbecues, steel drums and the occasional impromptu dance party. The Eglinton Crosstown will make it a summer evening destination worth the ride.
Eventually a few hot-shot chefs will move into the area; maybe a salsa club’ll come too. It’s going to be so cool.
The new Ossington
Vaughan Road and Oakwood is about a 10-minute walk south from Eglinton. It’s an oddly shaped intersection in that it’s more of a stretched x, which makes it unusually wide.
The south-west and north-east stretches are lined with restaurants and bars. There’s a small plaza on the south-east corner for late-night eats and convenience, and a stand-alone building on the north-east could be a microbrewery. Why not?
2021, when the Eglinton Crosstown will be finished, can’t get here fast enough
That’s when their official website says it’ll be done. In the meantime, you can still get here by subway. In the mean time please excuse the mess.
