If you’re unsure of what to get that distant aunt or reclusive colleague, you can rarely go wrong with a solid bottle of scotch or fine wine. Or local craft microbrew or fiery Mexican tequila for that matter. The LCBO at 2300 Yonge Street is right at the corner of Yonge and Eglinton, and has everything you need to add a bit of warmth to the wintry weather. We’re particularly partial to our patented eggnog, but a bit of mulled wine hits the spot just as well. Though as your dentists, we’d have to put in a word of caution about hitting the rum too hard – perhaps go for a less sugary beverage.
Of course, nothing goes better with a glass and a cozy fire than a good book. Luckily, there’s an Indigo located in the same mall at 2300 Yonge Street. From hardboiled crime for your grandpa to the latest in teen vampire romance for your niece, books are always a good choice for everyone on your list.
Socks, Skates and Sticks
One of the biggest indicators that you’re an adult is your enthusiasm about receiving socks for the holidays. Honestly, we can’t get enough. Stuff those stockings by “stocking up” (yep, we said it) at the Gap at 2635 Yonge or the Gap Kids at 2574 Yonge Street. Plus, you can outfit family and friends with the sweaters, hats and scarves they need to get through the months of less-festive winter that are just around the corner. And be sure your team is well-equipped for shinny season by snagging sticks, skates and other gear at Sporting Life (2454 Yonge Street). Or look ahead to greener months, and pick up the latest racquets, gloves, sneakers and more. Once you’ve gotten the shopping out of the way at Yonge and Eglinton, you’ll have lots of time to spend eating, sharing and celebrating the season with the people you love.
