March (Break) Madness

Despite our protests, another March Break is upon us. That means a week of freedom for the kids, which can quickly turn into a week of stress for parents. Luckily, there are plenty of things to do around the Yonge and Eglinton neighborhood and the city to ensure everyone’s happy!.

March Break at Yonge & Eglinton

To kick the week off, the Northern District Library at 40 Orchard View Boulevard is hosting a matinee screening of Hotel Transylvania 2, open to all comers, starting at 2 p.m. The hilarious 2015 movie stars Adam Sandler as Count Dracula, proprietor of the titular hotel now open to human guests. Regardless of whether your family has seen the first, this is an absolutely hilarious film perfect for all ages.

For the more rambunctious youngster, the Kidnasium at 745 Mount Pleasant Road is hosting a March Break Tumblers Camp from March 14th to 17th. While it might still be wintry outside, they’ll be able to run, jump, bounce and tumble to their hearts content in a safe, supportive indoor environment. If you don’t manage to book a space at the camp, you can still check out their March Break Open House on March 16th from 5 to 8 p.m.

After they’re tuckered out, be sure to swing by Mabel’s Fables at 662 Mt Pleasant Road to pick up a good book or two to see them through the week. There are entire worlds waiting to be discovered between their shelves, and March Break is the perfect time for your kids to get immersed in their imagination. The fun atmosphere and friendly staff are worth the trip. Be sure to say hi to Mabel III, their official bookstore cat.

Around the City

If you’re willing to step farther afield, there are tons of fun things happening all over the city!

The Royal Ontario Museum is hosting an Enchanted March Break, packed full of all sorts of family-friendly activities. Your tykes will get a chance to dress up, touch a few creepy-crawlies, craft their own finger puppets and, yes, even learn a thing or two.

The Ontario Science Centre has a new exhibit on circuses, and it’s just as awesome as it sounds. The kids will love getting their faces painted, learning how to juggle and discovering the secret languages of animals. But be warned: you may be chosen to step into the ring yourself! Although, if you feel you get enough of a circus at home, you may want to try the next option…

The Evergreen Brickworks is a great family destination year-round, and this March Break their skating rink will be free and open to the public! Grab some hot chocolate, strap on those skates and perfect your figure-eights. This rink boasts the added bonus of being the most sustainable, environmentally-friendly one in the city, and it serves as a great opportunity to teach your kids a thing or two about our local urban environment.

And One More Thing…

So your kids are free all week, huh? Sounds like the perfect time to schedule… actually, you know what? Never mind. Just have fun! But if you do decide that it’s time for a check-up, you know where to find us.

From everyone here at Yonge Eglinton Dental, have a wonderful March Break with your family!
