Did you know that walking the dog is actually beneficial for oral care? The more active you are, the more endorphins you produce, which strengthen every part of your body. And, of course, nothing puts a smile on your face quite like a happy dog.
Torontonians with dogs have so many places to go with their pooches. There’s High Park in the west, the Beaches in the east and the newly constructed waterfront in the south. Not many people consider Yonge and Eglinton a dog-walking spot, but it most certainly is. Here are a few highlights:
Sherwood Park
This is a gorgeous green space, just east of the Yonge Eglinton that stretches from Lawrence Ave almost all the way down to our office. There’s a wonderful off-leash trail and a few rolling hills perfect for Frisbee, fetch and just messing around with your four-legged friend. Take the path north past Blythwood Avenue and you’ll even find a monument dedicated to the dogs of the world.
Treats
Pet Valu at 2578 Yonge Street just north of Sherwood Avenue has you and your buddy covered for everything from organic snacks to the yummiest cookies. While you’re there, ask them about their doggy dental products — they have a whole section.
Dog-friendly stores
Almost every shop along the strip is happy to welcome dogs. Many leave doggy dishes out front with drinking water, even in the winter. And the ones that don’t allow dogs have a good reason. For example, we don’t typically let dogs into our offices/operatories for hygienic reasons, but we’re happy to talk about your dog all day at your next appointment.
