Get Outside, Yonge and Eglinton

If you’re looking for a way to get outside after this year’s horrible winter, there’s no need to leave the city, or even the neighbourhood. Check out our favourite ways to get outside and have some fun around Yonge and Eglinton.

Join A Soccer League
Beginning in the spring, Extreme Toronto Sports Club offers soccer league nights at the North Toronto field. Steps from Yonge and Eglinton, you can sign up with a team or as a free agent. Games are played Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Walk/Run/Bike The Beltline Trail
Originally constructed as a Victorian railway that ran for only two years, the trails were reclaimed as public space for runners, walkers, and bikers in the ’70s. Grab your dog (or borrow a friend’s) and enjoy a stroll along these scenic nature trails.

Enjoy Patio Season
There are two seasons in Toronto: winter and patio. Now that Toronto’s patios are smoke-free, they’re better than ever. Get a healthy dose of vitamin D at any number of Yonge and Eglinton’s best patios, like Granite Brewery & Restaurant, Duke of Kent, and Spacco Restaurant and Bar. Just don’t forget to slather on the sunscreen.

Shop Till You Drop
When the weather starts to warm up, one of the least appealing places to be is the mall or grocery store. So get your shopping done at Yonge and Eglinton, where you can stroll in and out of boutiques and shops enjoying the fresh air as you browse.

If you’re looking for a local source for naturally-raised meats, visit The Butcher’s Son. For kitchenware there’s nothing better than the selection at Degrees Kitchen Store. The Drake General Store is a great place to find a unique gift. And if you’re shopping for yourself your options are endless: from Sporting Life and Lululemon, to independent boutiques like Carbon, and Canon Blanc.

And while you’re shaking off those winter cobwebs, book your next check-up at Yonge Eglinton Dental to get your smile ready for the spring.
